Trying to achieve a goal takes motivation. Weight loss is no different. Motivation is an essential part of trying to lose weight. This is likely not a new concept for most. But what is motivation? Why do some people have more motivation than others? How do we find motivation?

Motivation is the summation of many things. Experiences, environment, and thoughts all lead towards motivation. Motivation is the not end though. Motivation represents the fuel and energy to do something. Any outcome we want to achieve becomes meaningless when motivation is taken out of the picture. If you do not care about winning a trophy, then actually winning one has no meaning for you. The problem with most people is they generally have motivation, just not the right amount. The dangerous thing about having small amounts of motivation is that you have a desire for the outcome but no means of getting it. If someone has a small amount of motivation to win a trophy, they truly want the trophy and it has meaning ...

5 Tips to Exercising in the Cold

Cold weather makes it easy to snuggle with a blanket, have a fire, or read a book. Unfortunately it isn’t the most encouraging environment to workout in. Here are 5 tips to help you stay on track.

  1. Add clothing all over

Winter means cold temperatures and thus, more clothes. It is encouraged to dress in layers. Additionally, add a beanie or hat to help keep your head warm and any potential water off your head. Gloves are essential as our extremities often become coldest the quickest. Even some cheap gloves from your local dollar ...

Focused through Holidays

Admin

Attention attention! Holidays are supposed to be a fun time for friends and families. They are NOT an excuse. Sure there may be some stress that accompanies the fun, but do not let yourself be like so many people who use “well it’s the holidays” as a way to skip workouts and eat junk. Two weeks of bad habits will make your efforts in January much more difficult. Instead of putting things off, use your workouts as an outlet for your stress. Got a mother or mother in law driving you crazy? Use it as fuel for your cardio. Have a father or brother being unnecessarily difficult? Use that as energy to get your last few reps in. Anything that seems to get you upset can be turned into workout fuel. When something happens during the day, save it for later and unleash it for a great workout. As for food, if you give your body good foods you will feel good. If you eat crappy foods you will feel like crap. The day in the week or month in the year does not change this. Let’s ...
