Weight away Day 2

Admin

We can all learn from others. Below is a "journal entry" from someone going through the Weight Away program. If you have tried to lose weight before, odds are you have experienced some similar thoughts and emotions. As you read it, I encourage you to think about your own experiences and see what you can take away from it. Enjoy!

“Weight Away Day 2” by Cindy J. (CJ) Thao

“I’M HUNGRY!” That is what my body has been screaming at me all day, even till this hour, this moment that I am expressing my thoughts. My body is adjusting to this change, this lifestyle change, and currently, it is not very happy. It is also tempting me with cravings. I am craving for so much food, snacks, and nuts right now. To be accurate, it is craving for the food on my meal plan. My body wants time to pass by quicker so that it can eat again. I am hungry, but I am not starving. I am making due without adding food into my body.

Any realizations today? The feeling of hunger lessens if I talk about it. That goes back to my previous entry in that when I confront the feeling, the energy that fuels it decreases. It becomes less powerful in my life. Another realization today: self-motivation. As I was bicycling, I wanted to quit, partly because I was hungry. But I refused to quit. I kept saying in my head, “CJ, you can do this. Cindy, you can do this. Your body is your priority.” Yes, for once in my life, my body is my priority. My physical health and well being is the most important thing on my mind. I have started to adjust my schedule and my behaviors around my meals and exercise time. I told my husband, “I’ve always been the kind of girl where my physical features are not the most important things in my life. I’d rather my brain speak for me than my looks. And if that silky, form-fitting dress does not look good on me, I’ll find a dress that will make me look good.” In that conversation, it dawned on me that society, the fashion industry helps to condition obesity and unhealthy weight gain. Fashion designers enable this unhealthy look by designing outfits that will accommodate for the full-figured woman or man. Balloon dresses, empire waists, baggy sweaters, relaxed fit jeans, etc. Its whole purpose is to cover or illuminate the pot belly, muffin tops, or rolls, and the more we condition this behavior, the bigger people get. Oh America! What are we to do! One thing I know for sure, though, is that I am in control. I am fighting the cravings, the desires to cheat, but I am in control. I am responsible for my eating habits, my physical exercise, and the choices on how I want to live my life.
